We take to the very undulating Belgian circuit of Zolder for a quick race where we throw all caution to the wind and put the peddle to the metal. Of course, in order to really attack any track, you’ll need to put in some time with the game to learn how to handle a 5-tonne 1000+ bhp racing truck which, as you can imagine, is not the easiest thing to drive at speed.
Despite our best efforts, it wasn’t long before cracks on the windscreen started to appear as we inevitably make contact with our rivals upon making overtakes. We also had the misfortune of hitting two racing bollards quite early on – should we hit a third we would incur a time penalty so we had to be somewhat cautious for the rest of the race.
As we forgot to squirt cooling water on our brakes during one of the major breaking zones, our brakes overheated reducing their effectiveness. It’s actually possible to lose all braking power should your brakes become sufficiently damaged so you’ll need to keep one eye on your brake temperatures throughout the race.
