Slightly Mad Studios’ CEO Ian Bell has recently taken to Twitter teasing details on their upcoming racing title Project CARS 3.
According to Bell, Project CARS 3 is going to be a “Revolution” (teasing both a fundamental change in direction and the supposed name of the sequel “Project CARS Revolution”).
The next Project CARS is going to be a Revolution. Huge thanks to all of the team who are honing it to perfection. I might rightly be accused of being overly positive/optimistic on occasion, but this is a game changer. It’s epic already and it’s one we’ll ship when we’re ready.

Earlier this year, Bell stated that Project CARS 3 will take cues from Need for Speed Shift (also developed by Slightly Mad Studios) with the goal of providing “less of a ‘sandbox’ and more of a fun game.” This direction of “fun” was further hinted by a subsequent tweet from the CEO of Slightly Mad Studios as seen below.
We’re going for ‘fun’… We’re bringing fun back to sim racing. Enjoy!

Answering a fan, Bell stated the upcoming Project CARS title is twice as good as Project CARS 2, let’s hope so.
It’s at least 200% better already. I can’t stop playing it and I should be jaded at this stage…

Bell has previously assured players that the third Project CARS title will have its roots remain firmly in the simulation end of the racing game spectrum amid fear for a watered-down experience.
Back in January, Bell confirmed the upcoming Project CARS game was still at the “design on paper” stage. The Slightly Mad Studios CEO has also confirmed that eight members of the former Evolution Studios team are working at the studio.
