Slightly Mad Studios’ CEO Ian Bell has elaborated on his earlier comments on Project CARS 3 giving us a better understanding of the direction of the upcoming racer.
Posting on the GTPlanet forums (post #172 onwards), Bell has stated that Project CARS 3 will take cues from Need for Speed Shift (also developed by Slightly Mad Studios) in terms of providing “less of a ‘sandbox’ and more of a fun game.”
This all points towards a more structured approach which should make for a more polished and higher quality experience rather than having a vast range of variables which don’t always gel well together on the race track.
Bell is also keen to assure players that Project CARS 3 will have its roots remain firmly in the simulation end of the racing game spectrum amid fear from fans that a watered down and more arcade-like experience would materialise. Indeed, Bell has hinted at even more detailed simulation for the third title which they “plan to really go to town on“.
Bell has confirmed that Project CARS 3 is still at the “design on paper” stage so its direction could well change in the design process. The Slightly Mad Studios CEO has also confirmed that eight members of the former Evolution Studios team are working at the studio.
