As we get ever closer to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s release on the Switch on April 28, Nintendo has recently revealed some fresh details on the kart racer to keep us satisfied.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe features every single character, track and kart from the Wii U version (including all previously released DLC) but of course adds some fresh content.
Five new characters have been added compared to the Wii U version, Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr bring the total number of racers to a staggering 42 (a record for the series). You can expect new karts inspired by Splatoon, the ability to hold two items at any time, and a new smart steering control option.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe features a revamped battle mode, which can be played both locally and online, which gives players the chance to do battle across eight colourful courses. The new Renegade Roundup mode will see one team trying to capture the other and place them in jail before the timer runs out.
Elsewhere, traditional split-screen returns for up to four players. Races can be played online or hosted in LAN multiplayer sessions with up to 12 players (additional games and systems are required).
