Originally planned for release this August, the WipEout-inspired anti-gravity racer Formula Fusion developed by R8 Games has slipped into 2017 where it will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
The news comes as the indie developer appoints Gary Bracey as the director of R8 Games. Bracey’s 30 years experience in the industry includes managing large developers and publishing for Ocean Software and Telstar. Currently, he holds the position of Commercial Director at Kuju Entertainment.
Founder and CCO of R8 Games Andrew Walker, who was part of the team that collected a BAFTA for visual art and design on Wipeout3, said, “We are very pleased to welcome Gary on board. He has been a long time friend and mentor of mine and it was a logical step to bring him on board for his invaluable advice and direction”.
R8 Games are also promising to release a significant update for Formula Fusion on Steam Early Access by the end of this week. The update will include the following features:
– Multiplayer
– Garage
– 3 Craft
– Better handling
“Our intention is to justify the price on Early Access by giving you half the game (alpha) – the price represents 50% off the full RRP so you can still grab a bargain,” R8 Games wrote on Facebook.

It’s good to see Formula Fusion finally progress after suffering setbacks and we look forward to seeing it develop. From our hands-on last year, this has the potential to be a true spiritual successor to the legendary WipEout.
