The famous Pikes Peak Hillclimb was recently released for Codemasters' Early Access PC rally game DiRT Rally in the free v0.4 update. There's two variations of the hillclimb – the traditional mixed surface course and the modern-day tarmac version, we take on the tarmac version in our latest DiRT Rally gameplay video.
The hillclimb is stressful enough as it is but as an added handicap there's no co-driver to help guide you through the course, so you're driving by the seat of your pants all the way through to the end.
Codemasters have gone to great lengths to provide the most realistic experience possible even going as far as simulating the adverse effects driving at the high altitude of the Pikes Peak course has on your car's engine.
Despite Alan's lack of experience with the course he still opts for no assists and has cranked the difficulty up to professional. As expected, there's the occasional mistake here and there particularly in the heavy braking zones before the tight hairpins which can easily catch you out due to the game's perception of speed.
After some tense racing, Alan finishes the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in a shade under the ten minute mark, check out the game play below, and leave us with your thoughts in the comments section.
