It's no secret that Forza Horizon 4 will be revealed at E3 this June. What is still a secret, however, is the game's open-world location. Earlier this year, rumours suggested Forza Horizon 4 will be set in Japan after Xbox's Head of Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, posted what looked like the game's cover art with Japanese text as a Twitter header image. Now, however, the United Kingdom is looking like a possible location in Playground Games' next open-world racer.
Hidden files showing possible thumbnail images of cars that will be added in a future Forza Motorsport 7 update were recently discovered by a GTPlanet community member. New additions to the Forza franchise found in the leak include the McLaren Senna, Peel P50, Ford Escort XR3, Ford Fiesta GRC, Morris Minor, and Austin FX4 taxi. Other cars from past Forza games such as the Bentley 8 Litre and Austin-Healey 3000 could also be making a comeback if the leak is to be believed.
You might have noticed a theme here: nearly every leaked car is British. Of course, it could just be a future DLC pack for Forza Motorsport 7. But cast your mind back, and you may remember that several Australian were added to Forza Motorsport 6 before Forza Horizon 3 was announced, so the selection of British cars found in Forza Motorsport 7 could suggest a UK location for Forza Horizon 4.
It would certainly be an interesting choice of location for an open-world racing game. The UK has a diverse car culture and some incredible driving roads, not to mention a plethora of iconic race tracks. Developer Playground Games is also based in Leamington Spa in the UK, so the team would have easy access to locations for research photos and videos.
Obviously, nothing is official yet so, so the possibility of a UK location for Forza Horizon 4 is pure speculation at this point. Microsoft's E3 press conference will be held on Sunday June 10th, so we should find out Forza Horizon 4's setting then. If the UK does end up being the location, at least rain effects have already been added to the Forza Horizon series.
Would you be happy if Forza Horizon 4 takes place in the UK or would you prefer it to be set in a more exotic location like Japan?
