Polyphony Digital has confirmed its upcoming Ayrton Senna-related content for Gran Turismo 6 will be released later this month.

As stated on the official Gran Turismo website's 'Ayrton Senna Tribute' sub-page, a free update containing "in-game racing content" linked to the fabled Brazilian Formula One driver – who tragically died twenty years ago today, after a fatal high speed crash at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola – will be released in late May.

Whilst the exact specifics of what this content will be, it has been revealed that Senna's Lotus 97T from 1985 – which he used to claim his first pole position and race win at that year's Portuguese Grand Prix – will be included in the update.

As part of the studio's partership with the Instituto Ayrton Senna foundation (which was announced during the Brazil Game Show last year), Polyphony Digital has also confirmed additional content will be produced throughout May, with the full support and blessing from the charity and the Senna family.

The first of these –  'Ayrton's Wish', a short documentary created by KAZ: Pushing The Virtual Divide director Tamir Moscovici which focuses on the impact and importance of the Instituto Ayrton Senna charity – is already available to view on the Ayrton Senna Tribute sub-page, and on the official PlayStation YouTube channel..

Two photographic slideshows on Ayrton Senna's early racing career will also be launched on the Ayrton Senna Tribute site, on May 12th and May 19th respectivley.

More information regarding Gran Turismo 6's commemorative Ayrton Senna content is expected to be confirmed by Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony Digital in the coming weeks.
