Truck Driver is an upcoming truck sim coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on September 19 followed by a PC release in November.

Truck driving games are usually reserved for the PC with SCS Sofware’s Euro Truck Simulator 2 and (more recently) American Truck Simulator dominating the truck driving scene, so the announcement of Truck Driver for the consoles certainly raised an eyebrow and got us excited along the way.

As this is an indie developed title, its best to think of Truck Driver as a smaller version of the aforementioned truck driving juggernauts. You won’t have endless miles of roads to contemplate the meaning of life, nor will you have the chance to soak in an abundance of different scenery pondering whether or not you’ve left the oven on.

Instead, Truck Driver will give you a little bit of this and a little bit of that to give you a taste of what it could be like driving a truck for a living.

We’ve been lucky enough to play over an hour of the PlayStation 4 version of Truck Driver. The career mode starts very gently, your first mission involves dropping a trailer to the next street around the corner. Thankfully, it isn’t long before you’re clocking up the miles, seeing the day to night transition in action, and stopping off at the nearest rest station to catch some all-important zeds.

You can see how we fared in the first hour or so with the career mode in Truck Driver in the video below.
