[UPDATE]Supergonk has now revealed that Trailblazers will launch in May. Original article follows.
Trailblazers is an upcoming arcade racing game which aims to freshen up the racing genre.
Developed by Supergonk, the racer looks to stand out from the crowd with its focus on team-based co-operative racing. It has a rather interesting on-track mechanic that will see players “painting the track” in their colours. These painted parts of the track can then be used as boost pads for the matching coloured team.
Check out the latest trailer below to see the track “painting” in action.
Racing in teams of up to three-versus-three, players will fight it out to capture key areas to dynamically change the racing line, then boost on their team’s colour. Racers who drive with “flair and style” will also accrue skill points to help their way to victory.
The retro-futuristic title features environments which are set across mountaintops, dense forests and desert valleys, all to the backdrop of the officially licensed soundtrack featuring leaders of the Future Funk genre, including Get On Up by Skope, Bad King Kong by The Derevolutions, and Dead Ringer by A.Skillz.
Trailblazers features an extended campaign mode which features single-player and online events. Six players can get in on the action online, whereas four can enjoy local split-screen action with additional online or CPU-controlled opponents.
Trailblazers will be available globally from Spring 2018 across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. We’ll have more on the upcoming racer in the near future.
