News Ubisoft rumoured to unveil new next gen racing IP The Crew at E3 2013

With Forza Motorsport 5, Gran Turismo 6, Need for Speed Rivals and Driveclub set to make an appearance, this year's E3 promises to be an eventful show for racing game enthusiasts. 

Last year Ubisoft arguably stole the show with their surprise unveiling of Watch Dogs, a new open world IP set in a sprawling alternate reality rednition of Chicago. And now it looks like they're set to do it all over again this year with a new top secret racing game IP. 

The top secret project is rumoured to be called The Crew, a racing game that sources claim are being developed by former Driver: San Francisco developers Ubisoft Reflections (who also working on the driving segments for Watch Dogs) for PS4 and Xbox One and possibly current generation consoles. Little information is currently known, but Examiner were reportedly told that The Crew will be a "realistic title, possibly being positioned against Forza and Gran Turismo."

It's since come to light that Ivory Studios, a developer studio made up of former employees from Eden Games who worked on the original Test Drive and VRally series, are also involved with the project following development of a planned spiritual successor to Test Drive. A GTPlanet user has since uncovered alleged target renders of the aforementioned project, which could well become the first screenshots of The Crew.

We'll apparently find out more at E3 in a couple of weeks, but the prospect of a back-to-the-roots Test Drive spiritual successor that will rival Forza and Gran Turismo is a very exciting one indeed.
