Game: Forza Horizon 3

Platform: PC, XBox One

Publisher: Microsoft Studios

Release Date: 27/09/2016

With just under a month until release, Playground Games have proudly announced that Forza Horizon 3 has officially gone gold for Xbox One and PC, meaning that the final game has gone for disc pressing and setup for digital release.

To celebrate the announcement, Playground Games have revealed further details about Forza Horizon 3. While the complete car list is now out in the wild, Playground Games couldn't resist one last surprise addition: the Warthog made famous in Halo will be making an appearance in Forza Horizon 3.

To be precise, this is the 2554 AMG Transport Dynamics M12S Warthog CST featured in Halo 5. It's a civilian version of its military counterpart, so don't expect it to have mounted guns, sadly.

Still, it makes up for it in pure power: with its 720 bhp twin turbo V8 engine, it's significantly faster than its military counterpart. It apparently also has the most advanced suspension of any car in Forza Horizon 3 and advanced dampening for extra stability – perfect for traversing the diverse terrain of Forza Horizon 3's Australian map.

The M12S Warthog CST will be available as a free download for Forza Horizon 3 for users who have either played Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One. The download code will be sent via private message on Xbox Live the week of September 5th. Those who don't own any Halo games will still have the opportunity to earn the Warthog in a Forzathon event in October.

This isn't the first time the Halo Warthog has featured in a Forza game. It last featured in Forza Motorsport 4 on Xbox 360 – albeit as a Forzavista car. Forza Horizon 3 marks the first time the Warthog has been drivable in a Forza game.
