Sega has released a brand new Team Sonic Racing video from the Tokyo Game Show, where Sonic Series Producer Takashi Lizuka provides an inside look into the development process of the upcoming racer.
Iizuka discusses his inspiration behind the game’s team-based racing style and we also get a glimpse at some of the courses including Wisp Circuit, Ice Mountain, and Market Street.
Iizuka also explains the various playstyles and character class types which are governed by the three stats of “Speed,” “Technique,” and “Power” giving players the chance to create a perfectly balanced team.

The title has 15 playable characters with nine unique upgrades, and a host of local and online multiplayer modes, as well as a Time Trial mode. The racer also has support for 12-player online and four-player split-screen local multiplayer races.
Team Sonic Racing is set to release physically and digitally on May 21, 2019 across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch with a digital-only release on PC.
