Project CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios are currently developing their own console entitled the “Mad Box” as revealed by CEO Ian Bell via a tweet.

This was followed up by another tweet revealing details on the Mad Box: “It’s the most powerful console ever built“, said Bell, “It’s literally ‘Mad‘”.

Bell also stated the console will support 4K gaming and virtual reality at 60 frames per second, and that developers can access a full engine for free to develop their titles for it.

Speaking with Variety, Bell confirmed the console will ship in “around three years” and that it will “be a console as is the Xbox or PlayStation“. Bell also stated the upcoming console will support most major VR headsets and that the console’s specs will be equivalent to “a very fast PC 2 years from now“.

Slightly Mad Studios are still in early talks with manufacturers of components and have confirmed they have the “designs specced out in detail“. Early design builds are expected to be revealed in four to six weeks.
