President of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo series Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed a release of Gran Turismo 7 next year would be a "best-case scenario".

Speaking to Top Gear Magazine, Yamauchi-san revealed that, whilst the PlayStation 4 "is much better" than the PlayStation 3 in terms of game development ease, we'd only see a Gran Turismo title on the PS4 next year as a "best-case scenario".

So, whilst it's seemingly possible for Polyphony to produce a new Gran Turismo game for an all-new console a year ready to be released a year after Gran Turismo 6, this is of course only if everything goes according to plan for what we assume will be GT7. Given Polyphony's track record of keeping to deadlines with its more recent games (do we need to bring up the delays for Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo PSP?), it's possible to cynically assume there won't be a GT7 game on sale in 2014.

This does mark, though, the second time Kazunori Yamauchi has mentioned the quick turnaround between the release windows of Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo 7 –  the PD boss mentioned earlier this year that "the PlayStation 4 game which we'll likely call GT7" could indeed be finished "in a year or two".
