Gran Turismo 6's GT Academy 2015 has just got underway. The competition provides a potential career in motorsport for anyone that is 18 or over and has the desire.
The Gran Turismo 6 qualifying competition started yesterday (April 21), and will run until June 16. This year sees the European Race Camp move from Silverstone to the more exotic Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, it's clear that the GT Academy is aiming to broaden its appeal.
The winner of the competition will have a new career in motorsport – a season racing in the Blancpain Endurance Series driving a 550bhp Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 race car no less. The prize comes with advanced driver development training, a jet-set lifestyle, and even an awesome company car. The first GT Academy competition took place in 2008 and each successive year has seen the continual growth in the event. Graduates from the programme have gone on to compete in Le Mans 24 Hour, GP3, FIA World Endurance Championship, Blancpain GT3 and Japanese Super GT Series events.
The European competition is open to players over 18 years old who are resident in the following 12 European countries split into these groups:
- Iberia (Spain and Portugal)
- Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg)
- CEE (Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic)
