Long the preserve of dedicated online racing, iRacing made the announcement to incorporate A.I. into a future update earlier this year, however they were at pains to stress that A.I. would not be added until they got it right. We’ve been waiting for this update for some time and now the first working A.I footage has been revealed in the two videos below taken from a build at the Sim Racing Expo 2018. It’s still too early to say how well it will work but so far so good, despite some lairy driving from the various testers.
Strangely they haven’t turned off or locked the wheel which is a tad off putting but I’m impressed. There is no confirmation on how this will be included or how much it will cost? Will this lead to a console version or even an option for those who want to purchase the content but not the subscription? All of that is a complete unknown, either way this is anther positive step and will entice a new audience who want to race but without the negative pressure that can come with racing online. We’ll keep a keen eye on this in the coming months ahead.
