Dirt 4 developer Codemasters has disclosed the first substantial details on the upcoming rally title’s team management features.
Building upon the functionality found in Dirt Rally, Dirt 4’s team management system is also similar to what was showcased in Codemaster’s 2008 title Race Driver: Grid – with an emphasis on sponsorships, facility improvements and purchasing new and used cars with race winnings.
For instance, players will be able to purchase modern rally machinery through the game’s ‘Dealership’ menus. Older vehicles, however, will only be accessible through the game’s ‘Classifieds’ used car marketplace.
Likewise, team colours and car liveries can also be selected, though the latter is only customisable through a range of pre-selected patterns, designs and themes. Sponsorship contracts offer more flexibility, however – with longer and more lucrative deals being offered based on career mode progress, rally event performance, the number of upgrades to your facility’s ‘Sponsorship Hoardings’ setup and even the quality of the PR agent.
Much like Dirt Rally, team members like co-drivers, spotters and the aforementioned PR agent can be hired and fired. Expanding the team facilities will also open slots for more engineering personnel and sponsorship opportunities , increase the capacity of the player’s garage and even improve the player’s chances of spotting rarer vehicles in the used car section.
Additional details on Dirt 4’s other modes and gameplay types will be revealed closer to the title’s official launch on 9th June 2017.
