Compulsory and automatic penalty zones will be coming to Gran Turismo Sport via a forthcoming update to replace the existing manually controlled slow down system which some players are currently abusing.
The upcoming “Penalty Line” system will automatically slow penalised cars when they drive on a specific part of a track (often starting at the track’s longest straight) marked by arrows housed in yellow floating boxes as seen below.
The driver who is currently serving an automatic penalty will be “ghosted” allowing other players to drive straight through the penalty serving car to avoid any unnecessary collisions. Once the player’s penalty time has reduced to zero, the player is then able to accelerate as normal play resumes.
Polyphony Digital has stated they will add the “Penalty Line” system to all FIA races starting November 7 with round 3 of the FIA Gran Turismo Championship Exhibition Series. The development team says the system will be used in Daily Races.
