An unexpected "sequel" to 2010's underrated arcade racing game Blur has emerged on the Android Store, in the form of the free-to-play Blur Overdrive mobile title.

Licenced by Activison and co-developed by Marmalade Play (the same firm that brought us the Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies mobile game), the new top-down perspective racing title made its surprise debut on Android earlier today, and is expected to launch on iTunes on November 1st.

Very little is known about the mobile game as of yet, though Blur Overdrive claims to feature 25 different (and completely fictional, it seems) cars, ten different event types and eight "insane" (the words of Marmalade's PR gurus, not ours!) power-ups.

A seemingly inherent focus on providing a white-knuckle, chaotic racing game experience is one that Marmalade appears to have understood what helped make Bizarre Creations' underrated Blur such a beloved hit with the game's die-hard fans.

If any Blur fans and/or Android device owners have played this new free-to-play game yet, we'd love to know what you make of it so far, so do let us know in the comments section below.
