Battlezone was originally developed by Atari as a 1980 arcade game, but you’re probably more familiar with the PlayStation 4 remake released in 2016 as a launch title for PSVR, depending on your age. Developer Rebellion has announced the tank combat game will soon be expanding its audience reach with the upcoming release of Battlezone Gold Edition on all major platforms, which will be blasting onto PS4, Xbox One and PC in May. A Nintendo Switch version will be released at a later date in the summer.
The good news is that you’ll no longer need to own a VR headset to play Battlezone with the Gold Edition. And don’t worry if you already own the original game, because existing owners will be able to upgrade to the Gold Edition free of charge.
Battlezone Gold Edition includes the main game, as well as all additional content released so far. This means you’ll get access to all the extra tank skins, bobbleheads and horns, as well as the Classic Mode based on the original Battlezone 80s arcade cabinet. Battlezone Gold Edition will be available on May 1st on PS4, Xbox One and PC for £29.99.
