SCS Software has today launched their latest update for American Truck Simulator which enables players to drive around in the new rescaled world.

The map rescale, available in today’s 1.5 update, increases American Truck Simulator’s real-world map scale from 1:35 to 1:20; putting it on par with Euro Truck Simulator 2’s incidentally. The huge undertaking took the development team thousands of hours over six months to complete, oh and did I mention, the update is free.

To accompany the expanded map, SCS has included a longer day-night cycle and some rebalancing of the economy. The rescale equates to a map which is 75% bigger than before thanks to hundreds of miles of longer roads. Furthermore the update sees the inclusion of the new city of Santa Maria and another city, Oxnard, gets a complete transformation.
