In the racing game world, RUF, a German manufacturer renowned for building their cars based on Porsches, are commonly known as the substitute manufacturer of choice when Porsche is unavailable to lend their cars to developers due to licensing issues – i.e.the majority of racing games that aren't published by EA.
iRacing is the latest non-EA-published racing game to acquire the RUF license, and a new series of screenshots showcase a work-in-progress build of a RUF RT12R racing round Montreal.
While no official release date has been announced, it has been revealed that three versions of the Ruf RT12R will be available to purchase: an AWD, RWD and a cup/racing version – all of which will be available as a bundle for $11.95.
The RUF RT12R is based on the 997 build of the Porsche 911 Turbo and carries a 3.8 litre twin-turbo engine with a modest 730bhp.
