The iconic Lancia 037 is supposedly set to make its Gran Turismo debut in Gran Turismo Sport at some point in the near future.
According to a now-deleted Instagram post by the classic and sports car broker Girardo and Co, the Lancia 037 will be "coming to a PlayStation near you soon". Though Gran Turismo Sport isn't explicitly mentioned in the post, the #granturismo tag heavily suggests the car is destined to appear in the PS4-exclusive game at some point.
If true, the Lancia 037 will become the first Lancia to appear in Gran Turismo Sport, The featured car also has some notable historical provenance, having been driven in period as a works Lancia by Henri Toivonen to a podium finish at the 1984 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland.
Little else could be deduced from Girardo and Co's removed Instagram post, though the audio equipment does suggest the car's engine sounds were being recorded on the day the photo was taken. It's difficult to pinpoint how recent the image is, however, considering Girardo and Co appears to have possessed this particular Lancia 037 since November 2016.
At time of writing, it's unknown for certain if or when the Lancia 037 will arrive in Gran Turismo Sport.
