First details on Forza Motorsport 7's career mode announced

James Allen On June 16, 2017

The first official information on Forza Motorsport 7's single-player campaign mode structurehas been disclosed by developer Turn 10 Studios.

Set to be "completely re-imagined" over the setups in previous Forza games, the "Forza Driver's Cup" career mode in Forza Motorsport 7 consists entirely of championships. Whilst only six "major championships" will be included in Forza Motorsport 7, players will be able to select from a variety of disciplines and car divisions to complete these championships in - including trophy trucks and officially licensed NASCAR content, which will be making their first on-disc appearances in a Forza Motorsport game in Forza Motorsport 7.

The championships structure will also adopt a "motorsports-inspired scoring system", where players accumulate points based on their race finishing position. With Turn 10 Studios stating these points will be used to "unlock new cars and brand-new Driver Gear", it's possible these points will used be in a similar vein to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex's medals progression system, rather than the points-based format used in real-world motorsports championships.

As with prior Forza games, Forza Motorsport 7 will feature a levelling-up single-player mechanic that increases XP and in-game credit payouts after each event based on the player's selected difficulty level and assist options. Unlike past titles, however, Forza Motorsport 7 will also reward players for amassing a car collection, with the size of a user's in-game garage determining the value of post-race rewards such as the aforementioned avatar Driver Gear. Additional details on what these reward bonuses entail will be made public during the Gamescom expo in August 2017.

Lastly, showcase events have also been announced for Forza Motorsport 7. Little concrete information was made available on this returning feature, though it was confirmed that certain cars can only be unlocked in Forza Motorsport 7 through these showcase events.
