News Rocket League goes back to the ’80s with Radical Summer event

Rocket League‘s upcoming summer-long event is taking you back to the good old eighties.
That’s right, the ‘Radical Summer’ event honours some of the movies, television and culture from one of the most colourful decades in history.
Check out the trailer below which includes references from iconic movies such as The Goonies, Ghostbusters, E.T. and more.
Radical Summer is actually the biggest in-game event in Rocket League’s four-year history. Starting on June 10, the nine-week event (split between three weeks of Blockbusters, Culture, and Television phases) will include a range of free items, new ‘Premium Licensed DLCs’, limited-time game modes, and more that has yet to be revealed.
During the event’s nine weeks, players can play online matches to obtain ‘Cassettes’ which can be used to redeem various ’80s themed items in the Event Store. You’ll have a chance to grab any items you may have missed throughout the nine weeks thanks to a ‘last chance’ week following the end of Radical Summer in August.
The running dates of the three ’80s phases can be seen below.
- ’80s Blockbusters: June 10 – July 1
- ’80s Culture: July 1 – 22
- ’80s Television July 22 – August 22
