The Crew publisher Ubisoft has confirmed the release date for the title's closed beta has been brought forward to July 21st.

Originally scheduled to go live next Wednesday on July 23rd, the revised dates now means the closed beta – which ends on July 25th – will run for five consecutive days before being wound down.

Ubisoft has also confirmed The Crew's entire USA open world will be playable in the closed beta test, though users will only be able to access missions, 'skill challenges' and PvP multiplayer lobbies in the Mid-West and East Coast zones.

Though the car roster for the closed beta has yet to be disclosed, users will be able to customise their chosen car to two self-explanatory tuning types: 'Street' and 'Dirt'. The other three upgrade paths that will be featured in the game – 'Performance', 'Drift' and 'Circuit' – will also be present in the beta through brief glimpses.

Being a closed beta test for a title that doesn't come out until November later this year, Ubisoft is keen to point out the test "does not represent the final state of the game", with "many changes" claimed to be in the pipelines for The Crew as development progresses.
