We are less than three months away from the console release of Assetto Corsa which is due to release on August 26 after a couple of delays.

Recently Examiner caught up with Stefano Casillo from the Assetto Corsa development team, who explained some of the issues they have experienced with bringing the popular PC sim over to the PlayStation 4 console which proved more of a challenge when compared to the Xbox One version.

“We all come from a PC background, except one developer who has experience with Rockstar Games. But yes it was difficult. PS4 required a total rewrite of the graphics engine because the way you need to work on the console is totally different," said Casillo.

“We are an independent company that tends to do software the way we want and what’s happening on console is you have this huge amount of technical requirements that you need to meet, in order for this game to be released on console. That was a tough experience for us because usually there are many things on the PC that you can say, ‘we don’t care about that, we don’t do that, we won’t do that.’ On console you have to make it work."

"They want to make sure the user has a very consistent experience for all of the games, so you need to support this minimum amount of features. This happens so the gamer can have a smooth experience playing [the game]," stated Casillo.

So far we know that the console versions of Assetto Corsa will feature over 90 high performance cars including the likes of the Pagani Zonda R, Ferrari LaFerrari and Mercedes C9 among many other equally breathtaking cars. The racing sim will also feature 27 different track configurations with Silverstone, Spa, Monza and the Nurburgring Nordschleife all making their appearances.

Assetto Corsa is currently scheduled to release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in August 26 in Europe and August 30 for North America.
