The ambitious open-world racer FUEL becomes the very latest racer to be added to Xbox One’s ever-expanding list of backward compatible titles.

FUEL, developed by Asobo Studio and published by Codemasters, released in 2009 across the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world which has been at the mercy of freak weather conditions thanks to the global warming crisis.

You get a good sense of what FUEL has to offer in the video below courtesy of EightBitHD.

FUEL is perhaps best known for its gigantic open world map and actually won an award for the “largest playable area in a console game”. The map can be traversed in a number of different off-road vehicles including bikes, ATVs, SUVs, buggies, trucks and even muscle cars.

As impressive as the scale of the map was, the title was met with mixed reviews upon launch. FUEL secured an aggregated score of 66, 67 and 67 across its three platforms due to it failing to deliver in key areas.

Will you be giving FUEL one last test drive on the Xbox One, do you have any fond memories of the title?
