Fasten your seat belt: BugBear Entertainment has announced that their demolition derby-style racer Wreckfest will be crashing onto PS4 and Xbox One in 2017.

"Since the Early Access launch of Wreckfest we have been asked whether Wreckfest will be ever released on consoles, and we're now thrilled to announce that Wreckfest is officially coming to Xbox One™ and PlayStation®4!" BugBear announced.

"Thanks to the raw power of both Xbox One™ and PlayStation®4 we will be able to unleash our undistilled vision of a next-generation demolition racing game on consoles as well and expand our audience considerably," Studio Director Janne Alanenpää commented.

BugBear are already taking preorders for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Wreckfest on their official website. Those who preorder will gain access to an early access version of the game and "and become active in the game’s development by providing feedback that will help shape the title into something even better before its final release."

Wreckfest is expected to land on PS4 and Xbox One in "early Spring 2017." The PC version is currently listed with an expected release date in "early 2017."

Initially released on Steam Early Access back in 2013, Wreckfest (formally known as Next Car Game) is best known for its impressive soft body damage modelling allowing you to dismember your car beyond recognition more realistically than any other racing game. BugBear originally worked on the acclaimed FlatOut series but no longer own the license – FlatOut 4 is currently in development by Kylotonn Games and due for release this year.

In addition, BugBear also made the surprise announcement that they're working on another PC project called Stuntfest.

Stuntfest

Stuntfest is "a wacky vehicle-based physics playground that will enable you to create your own mischievous levels using the easy-to-use in-game editor and then trying to accomplish all sorts of crazy ragdoll stunts with a choice of vehicles ranging from mobility scooters to shopping carts."

In essence, Stuntfest sounds like a mash-up of the Next Car Game technology demo, FlatOut's rag doll mini-games and Stuntman's level editors.

Stuntfest is expected to enter Early Access around September or October this year and can be pre-ordered on the Wreckfest website.
