We’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on a preview version of WRC 8 and have got stuck into the first hour or so of the revamped career mode for your viewing pleasure.
WRC 8’s career mode feels very different from earlier games in the series thanks to an abundance of new features which makes for a more in-depth experience. Those that just want to skip the new career elements and get on with the action as before can do so too courtesy of the game’s new Season mode.
This year you’ll participate in crew management which will see you hiring, resting and firing staff members such as mechanics, meteorologists, agents, and more. Each staff member brings its own perks so you’ll want to hire the very best you can afford.
Once you’ve earned levels by completing events, you will be given points to spend on the R & D screen which boasts four skill trees. Spending points here can unlock additional job roles and provide boosts to existing staff members as well as a host of other benefits.
Our first hour or so playthrough of WRC 8’s career mode also introduces us to some of the training exercises as well as the very first “Extreme Conditions” event which thrusts us into a damaged car in terrible weather conditions.
You can view our WRC 8 career mode overview below. WRC 8 will release on September 5 across the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version will follow in October.
