Platform: PC, PS4, XBox One

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release Date: 01/12/2014

Ubisoft Ivory Tower Managing Director Ahmed Boukheifa has recently confirmed that work on The Crew's incoming graphical update actually started very shortly after the game's launch in 2014.

The new graphical update coming November 17, to coincide with The Crew's Wild Run expansion, will be free for all The Crew players and not only involves updated textures and improved visual techniques but also has dynamic weather with the introduction of rain. Also added is a new handling model which features enhanced aerodynamic and tyre models which should make for a more satisfying driving experience.

Speaking with Examiner, Boukhelifa commented on how the big update came to be: "As soon as we shipped The Crew. We had the time and the means to make one big massive upgrade and bring it to the players within a year, so we took the bet. It was a risky bet because of having to get the project done in a short amount of time, but we are happy with where the game is at today."

We were very surprised to say the least when the announcements were made about these large graphical upgrades for The Crew at this year's E3. Not to mention the Wild Run expansion too which sees new vehicles and specs join in on the action in the massive open-world racer. We got our hands on a preview version of the Wild Run expansion recently complete with the new dynamic weather and graphical upgrade which can be viewed below.

Boukhelifa is confident the new graphical upgrade and dynamic weather update will draw players back into The Crew's world, stating: "There has been a lot of work done to the game’s draw distance as well. What’s true about the world is also true about the cars, which shine like they never have. This has also brought about dynamically changing weather, which will all have an impact on gameplay. It brings another dimension of life to the gameplay."

With the release of the graphical update, dynamic weather and the Wild Run expansion coming on November 17, we certainly don't have long before we get to see the final results. As ever we'll do our best to cover the new content and we even have some comparison videos planned to compare the new vs old graphics. For now why not check out our very recent interview with Stephane Jankowski, producer of The Crew: Wild Run below.

Do you think the new upgrades will be enough to draw players back in to The Crew's massive open-world for a second time?
