'Tis the season to be making racing related trademarks it seems. Following on from the recent Need for Speed Arena trademark, a new European trademark for Wave Race has been filed in Europe.
According to NintendoLife, the Wave Race trademark (seen below) was filed with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) on November 17 by Nintendo via a German representative and is currently under examination as normal.
The very last Wave Race title was released for the Nintendo Gamecube all the way back in 2002 which was a sequel to the Nintendo 64 version appropriately named Wave Race 64.
It would be great to see the series return, we've recently enjoyed a similarly fast-paced arcade racer Riptide GP: Renegade and are looking forward to Aqua Moto Racing Utopia which is scheduled for release at the end of the month.
Of course trademarks are far from guarantees that the games will even exist but we are keeping our fingers crossed for this one.
