Today has been a momentus day for racing game fans with the unveil of Gran Turismo Sport at today's London event. There's been an overload of information to digest, but if you want a quick fix here's the official gameplay trailer, giving us a glimpse of some of the exquisitely modelled cars in action along with Gran Turismo Sport's advanced new Photo Mode known as Scrapes and livery editor.
In all honesty, the trailer is a little underwhelming, lacking the cinematic bombast we're used to seeing in Gran Turismo trailers. There were glitches galore on display, not to mention some odd collision physics. Even the song selection was lackluster – the plodding pace doesn't really conjure excitement. Just compare it with that epic Gran Turismo 6 reveal trailer.
It's a Gran Turismo game so it's obviously still very pretty, but Gran Turismo Sport isn't looking like a massive visual step up from Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3 at this point – if you were to put them side by side, I honestly think I would struggle to tell the difference. It suggests that Gran Turismo Sport is still very much a work in progress, but with six months until the final release there's still plenty of time for Polyphony to polish it up.
