The announcement of the apocalyptic-themed Riders of Doom DLC for Trials Evolution certainly grabbed our attention. Origin of Pain was a perfect example of DLC done right, and Riders of Doom looks as if it will continue this trend with a similar helping of content offering new and inventive ways to abuse your rider.
The initial trailer didn't give too much away, however, but we can now share a new launch trailer packed with alluring gameplay footage that gives us a better idea of what to expect:
The level designs look as pleasingly diverse as ever, as we're treated to glimpses of levels situated in desert cannyons. burning buildings and towering cityscapes.
According to the trailer, 20 new Trials tracks will be included in the pack, along with five new Supercross tracks, 10 Skill games (one of which appears to be a Tron meets Tetris level) and hundreds of new editor objects for budding bikers to play with. We also finally get a preview of the sleek-looking Banshee 350cc, a new ultra-fast superbike that should make light work of the various obstacles in its path.
Despite the trailer being promoted as a 'launch trailer', we still don't have a solid release date for Riders of Doom – contrary to the trailer's announcement that the DLC is out now. Still, it's evident that Riders of Doom is merely days away, giving us time to be amply prepared for the apocalypse.
Edit: Riders of Doom has since become available on XBLA retailing for 400 MS points.
