Welcome to another installment of the TeamVVV podcast for all your weekly racing game rambles.

With Gamescom looming next week, we preview some of the racing games we’re expecting to see on the showfloor. Alan will be flying off to Germany next week to wade his way through the mass crowds to bring you as much coverage as he possibly can on all the latest racing games – keep your eyes peeled on our YouTube channel and this very website where we hope to bring you fresh gameplay videos on the likes of WRC 6, Moto Racer 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Gran Turismo Sport.

Elsewhere, the surprise announcement of indie open world racer D.R.I.V.E got us reminiscing about Test Drive Unlimited and its not-so-good-sequel, Test Drive Unlimited 2. All going well, we think D.R.I.V.E could be one to watch as it develops – potentially, this could be the open world racing game fans of the original Test Drive Unlimited have been waiting for.

Forza Motorsport also started its own eSports online championship, but players have been reporting that corner cutting issues have hampered the experience. We discuss what the eSport-focused Gran Turismo Sport needs to do to avoid the same fate.

With only 2 weeks until the much anticipated launch of Assetto Corsa on consoles, the PR train is at full speed trying to promote Kunos Simulazioni’s ravishing racing sim. One video that caught our attention was a comparison between Assetto Corsa being played with a controller and a wheel. As you’d expect, the wheel offers a smoother driving experience giving the player more precise car control, but the controller fares surprisingly well which leads to us comparing how other recent racing simulators handle with a pad.

All this and more in this week’s TeamVVV podcast.

Oh, and apologies for the audio issues in this week’s podcast. Something tells me the dog might have chewed on my audio cables again…
