Welcome once again to the TeamVVV Podcast for all your weekly racing game rambles.
This week Alan was absent once again (we suspect he might have a chronic addiction to Pokemon Go), so you’re stuck with Kevin and I to bring you up to speed on what’s been happening in the racing game industry.
We started with some much needed celebration that Assetto Corsa has gone gold for consoles in what is fast becoming one of our most anticipated games of the year, proving that hardcore racing simulations shouldn’t be restricted to PC owners.
Speaking of console simulations, Gran Turismo Sport is another hot topic with the curious news that the game is only 70% complete despite only being three months away from release.
Elsewhere, Forza Motorsport is still showing GT up with its growing car roster, as we were treated to the sublime Summer Car Pack which features the racing game debut of the Ferrari F-158 F1 car no less.
We’re big fans of VR here at TeamVVV. The technology has the potential to revolutionise our favourite gaming genre, so the news that DriveClub VR has been confirmed as a launch title (in Japan at least) got us very excited indeed. If you can’t wait that long, there’s plenty of VR racing game experiences just around the corner: the WipEout-inspired Bank Limit: Advanced Battle Racing launches in just over a week, or if you fancy something more lighthearted comedic kart racer Coffin Dodgers has entered the VR dimension with the release of a playable demo.
All this and much more is discussed in this week’s podcast. Thanks again for listening, and if there’s anything you’d like us to discuss you can let us know in the comments below.
