If you needed confirmation that the full reveal of Project CARS 2 is imminent, here it is. Slightly Mad Studios' CEO Ian Bell has hinted before that the marketing campaign for Project CARS 2 will go into full speed in a matter of weeks, but ahead of its reveal YouTuber user Vortlas SimRacing has uploaded what they claim to be a leaked Project CARS 2 trailer taken from another user who uploaded it privately.
An inside source on NeoGaf has since confirmed the video comprises of placeholder footage intended to be used for an intro and not as a trailer. Either way, it seems that we can safely say that what we're seeing here is the first official video footage of Project CARS 2. And that's cause for celebration – we're big fans of the original Project CARS, which automatically makes the sequel one of our most anticipated racing game releases of the year. Several previously announced features are shown, including rallycross racing, snow tracks, and an ultra-realistic dynamic weather system which looks like it generates real-time puddles on the track.
Several unannounced cars also feature, including the debut of Porsche and Ferrari – though this perhaps isn't surprising, since Bell has previously hinted that the holy trinity of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche will be present in Project CARS 2. Other cars spotted by GTPlanet include the all-new Ford GT, Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupé, MINI RX Supercar, Lamborghini Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo, McLaren P1 GTR, Datsun 240Z Race Car and Jaguar XJ220S.
The graphics engine looks to be a significant step up from Project CARS, which will reportedly not only simulate dynamic times of day, but seasonal changes as well. Don't be surprised if the official reveal arrives sooner rather than later following this leak.
