We share our initial thoughts when using a racing wheel on the recently released Wild Run expansion for The Crew.

We test a number of the game's new vehicles, starting with the monster trucks. As fun as the monster trucks are, we notice that when using a racing wheel we don't have the ability to pull flips in the air which seems like a fairly big oversight. So although the monster trucks are more fun using a wheel, in order to score more points we recommend using a controller.

Moving on to the drag racing then, Alan was struggling with the wheel and pedals when revving to warm the tyres just before the start of the drag run. Although I didn't quite experience the same level of problems with getting the tyres in the green zone, I did find it to be quite challenging myself. Overall Alan prefers the using a controller for drag racing, whereas I prefer using the wheel simply because I found the gear shifting easier with the paddle shifts rather than hitting the right stick to the upwards position to change gear on the controller. Some of you will no doubt have different experiences to us.

Finally we move on to the drifting, which is extremely difficult in The Crew: Wild Run. Finding the correct balance of using the accelerator and steering inputs feels counter intuitive and both myself and Alan find the whole process frustrating for the most part and not much fun. I even found this to be the case when using a controller. Again you may find you have a different experience to us so let us know in the comments how you are getting with the new vehicles using both a controller and/or a wheel.
