Eclipse Games have announced that their retro table-top racer Super Toy Cars (which was released on the Wii U last year) will be racing onto the Xbox One in early September.
Super Toy Cars is best described as a tabletop arcade racer much in the same vein as the Micro Machines games. The game features a career mode, complete with 48 events, where you’ll be collecting a number of cars and earning upgrades for them.
There’s also the option to build you own tracks with the in-game track editor which sounds very interesting. You can enjoy Super Toy Cars with up to 4 players locally and up to 8 players online which sounds like a lot of potential fun to me. Cast your eyes on the (old) official trailer below to get a feel for the action.
Super Toy Cars has 16 different vehicles in total, ranging from a camper van to a Formula One inspired race car, each having its own unique handling model. There’s 12 tracks across 4 different locations which can be played in 5 event types.
Eclipse Games explain their passion for retro racing games: “We have played and loved all these classic arcade racing games from our youth: the first MicroMachines games, the intense Super Off-Road, the unforgettable Death Rally, the epic Mario Kart games, etc. We decided we wanted to develop a game that captured the essence of these classics but with updated graphics and an option to build your own tracks”.
Super Toy Cars will be available for the Xbox One console on September 4 and will cost £7.99/$9.99/€9.99.
