News Rumour: GT Sport closed beta to close in a matter of days [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] It's official, the Gran Turismo Sport closed beta will indeed close on July 16 across the US, Europe and Asia. The confirmation comes through the GT Sport beta title itself which confirms the date along with a more specific 6pm GMT cut off time. Original story follows.

Some Japanese gamers have been reporting that the GT Sport closed beta will be ending on July 16. The new comes courtesy of an official private Japanese GT Sport beta forum.

No official confirmation has been made by Sony or developer Polyphony Digital, so it's currently unclear if this information is accurate, much less whether this applies to Europe and worldwide.

It certainly would be surprising given that GT Sport recently benefited from an update which saw the introduction of mechanical damage. To pull the plug this soon after the update wouldn't leave much time for the development team to see how much the mechanical damage impacts gameplay, never mind give them enough time to make adjustments.

However, it is worth mentioning that there is talk of a potential second phase beta test which could have additional features, either way we'll keep you abreast of any developments.
