News Rocket League will be coming to other platforms

Many thousands of people have been enjoying Rocket League since its release about a month ago, its been so popular in fact that it recently surpassed 5 million downloads.

Developer Psyonix are very keen to port the game over to other platforms and are apparently in the process of doing so right now. In a recent interview with GameZone, Jeremy Dunham, Vice President of Marketing and Communications of Psyonix, commented that they are "definitely looking into other platforms. Absolutely, 100 percent."

"Now that the game is doing as well as its doing and people really want to see, we've focused on this," said Dunham. "We're now in a position that we can expand our team. We are absolutely, 100 percent going to other platforms."

Dunham also explained that the reason why Rocket League started life out on the Playstation 4 and PC platforms only was because the development team was very small – only 8-12 people worked on Rocket League. The dev team wanted to have as much a polished game as possible and so only focused on the two platforms.

In the last couple of weeks the development team has been expanded with the addition of two new people as they now focus on porting Rocket League to other platforms. When asked which platforms can we expect the game to be available for Dunham explained “Nothing is off the table”. "If the game can work on the platform and we can responsibly get that game working on a platform, we will never say never to any of the platforms that are current-gen. Anything is possible."

From the words above it seems as though an announcement for the Xbox One version of Rocket League is inevitable which is great news for Xbox One owners, whether or not the game will be available for free through "Games with Gold" though is anyone's guess.
