Release Date: Q3 2019 (PS4 & XBOX ONE)

It’s been over two years since we last covered anything to do with Kart racing sim KartKraft so you would be forgiven for thinking the project had met its demise.

In light of that, it comes as a fairly big surprise to hear the title will launch on Steam (early access) on November 1, 2018.

Developer Black Delta explains the delay was due to the monumental task of replicating the “physical dynamics” of racing karts. The closed beta test in 2016 revealed some fundamental flaws in the racer which lead to the team going back to the drawing board building the game “from the ground up” (ouch).

Black Delta said:

“We’ve added a physically based tyre model, rebuilt the physics engine, remodeled all the karts, improved the AI, added cloud saving, leaderboard ghost modes, all the while creating the most advanced customization system ever seen in a racing game. This is the game I dreamt of all those years ago and I can’t wait for you to play it!”

KartKraft will release on Steam on Thursday, November 1 at 16:00 GMT. We can expect to see some new screenshots, new gameplay trailers, and the early access roadmap this week so check back for more on KartKraft shortly.

I managed to get KK for free as a beta tester the first time around.

It will be interesting to follow this in Early Access. I found the inital build to run fine; just a shame no extra wheels apart from the T500 were available leaving me to use the KB and Xbox controller.
