Sweedish developer SimBin's (the same people behind the legendary PC GTR sim series) promising free-to-play PC sim RaceRoom Racing Experience can't be too far off now. Already available to download as a tantalising teaser featuring one track and car, eager fans are now able to test drive RaceRoom in a newly launched beta.
There is a catch, however – it's currently only being offered as a closed beta, meaning that it's only available to selected players who signed up to register their interest. Fortunately you can at least still sign up, so if you would like to be in with a chance you would be wise to register. Alternatively, the teaser is still available to download.
Those who are lucky enough to be picked for the closed beta will gain access to three new tracks Hockenheim, Portimao and the Lakeville Hillclimb. Car-wise, the full roster will be available, so you'll be able to drive the fictional Canhard R52, the DMD P20 and the late Georg Plasa's BMW 134 Judd hill climb in addition to the Saleen S7R & Aquila CR1 Sports GT already available in the beta.
We've posted some fresh new screenshots in the gallery below, but to fully appreciate RaceRoom's graphical prowess you can also view them all as swanky 3D panoramic shots over on the official website. Nifty.
Reception seems to indicate that RaceRoom will satisfy die-hard SimBin fans, so we will have to wait and see how closely it will resemble what we can expect in GTR3 later on down the line.
