ORIGINAL STORY

Project CARS's release date has been pushed back to 20th March 2015, distributor Bandai Namco has confirmed.

According to a report by Eurogamer, the delay is to primarily avoid the November launch window that's "dominated by household names", giving the title "the greatest chance of success and visibility" (Project CARS was previously scheduled for release on 21st November 2014).

With the new launch date in place, Project CARS certainly does now have a more competitive chance to score highly in the sales charts: at time of writing, the only major game to be confirmed for release in March 2015 is F1 2015 from Codemasters Racing.

The delay also gives developer Slightly Mad Studios the oppurtunity to "polish the game even further to the high standards that both ourselves and our community demand and expect".

It's worth pointing out that the delay only seems to affect the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of Project CARS. As a result, it's unknown at this moment in time how whether this will affect the title's release on the WiiU (which has already been postponed until early 2015).
