Players who have pre-ordered Onrush on the PlayStation 4 can enjoy playing the open beta today, a full two days before the beta becomes available to all PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners.
Onrush sets itself apart from other arcade racers thanks to doing away with the finishing line (and any racing positions) in favour of objective-based gameplay that will see you working together to beat the opposing team.
Onrush keeps the action ticking over very nicely thanks to a system that keeps players in the thick of the action at all times (only taking a few seconds break should your vehicle get destroyed).
The open beta, which will also be available to everyone who owns an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 17, gives players the chance to sample two of the four game modes that Onrush will launch with.
Overdrive tasks players to earn and use their speed boosts as much as possible, doing so will enable your team to rack up points. Naturally, the longer you keep boost active the bigger the scoring multiplier gets. Triggering Rush will also enable you to instantly double your current score multiplier for some truly top points.
Racing through randomly spawning checkpoints to extend your team’s time is the goal of the second event Countdown. However, you can always opt to go for an opponent takedown instead of trying to pass through each and every gate. Needless to say, this tactic has plenty of risk as missing too many checkpoints comes with a large time penalty, however, the reward can be worth it.
The beta will see you racing on the Big Dune Beach and Volcano Lake locations with a choice of four vehicles on offer which includes Blade, Vortex, Interceptor, and Titan.
Let us know if you will be taking part in the open beta for Onrush either from today or when it opens up to everyone on Thursday, May 17.
