With attention off track looking firmly at Vettel's announcement of leaving his championship winning team for the Scuderia in 2015, there was a matter of finding out who will be on pole position in Suzuka for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.
Mercedes are once again in a league of their own this weekend with pace in the dry where they are faster on the prime tyres than most competitors are on the option. With wet weather highly likely tomorrow, a pole position here will have massive benefits here, if anything just for visibility. Hamilton went into the qualifying session crashing out of P3, but the Mercedes team repaired all damage with no penalties ahead of the first qualifying session.
