Project CARS 2 is a very ambitious upcoming racing game that will contain a plethora of different racing disciplines, one such discipline is IndyCar. Developer Slightly Mad Studios has teased the Dallara DW12 (or IR12 to give it its official name) IndyCar, in a batch of freshly released images.
The Dallara DW12 is sold to IndyCar teams for $349,000 per chassis. Although these units are identical, the cars on the grid are very different from each other thanks to the choice of either a Chevrolet or Honda engine and the vast differences in the teams' aero kits.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Assistant Engineer Kenny Krajnik recently conducted an interview and touched on the accuracy of the virtual representation of the Dallara DW12 found within Project CARS 2. “I would say from an engineering standpoint that it’s very representative. In my opinion, it’s a very good model,” said Krajnik. “For example, it takes a while for the tyres to come up to temperature, it takes a while for the brakes to come up to temperature. And just some of the adjustments that we made to the tyre model specifically, it really improved the fidelity of the model, and even James [Hinchcliffe] himself said that after those adjustments were made, the car responded like the actual IR-12.”
Project CARS 2 will release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms in "late 2017", you can view more images of the famous Dallara DW12 in the gallery below, and why not check out one of our preview videos on the title also below.
