One of the more interesting aspects of EA Ghost's Need for Speed Rivals game – the online-centric AllDrive feature – has been flaunted in the title's latest trailer.
Dubbed by the developers to be a "revolutionary" new addition to the Need for Speed franchise, the AllDrive component claims to allow gamers on both the single-player and multiplayer modes to occupy the same area and participate in the same events seamlessly, without the need for loading times or lobby functions.
This also claims to let different street races and high-speed pursuits potentially overlap each other, giving the events in Need for Speed Rivals to – in theory, at least – be completely different for different players once the game's hooked up to the 'Net.
We'll perhaps have to wait and see if AllDrive is as successful in practice as it is on paper, but everything's pointing to the feature being a pretty novel spice-up of the synchronous online-centric multiplayer racing game genre…
