In news that will probably surprise absolutely noone, Firemonkey's upcoming Need for Speed mobile spin-off No Limits will be limited by in-app purchases. Oh the irony.
As is common in all-too-many mobile racers, progression will be constantly hampered with wait times unless you're willing to fork out cash to skip ahead. In the case of No Limits, you'll be prompted to pay for petrol to fill up your car, which depletes over time. Sigh.
Worse still, there are multiple currencies in No Limits which can be used to fill up the tank and upgrade your car – the rarest of which is Gold, which, you guessed it, can only be acquired if you cough up real world money.
It's a pity because Need for Speed No Limits had potential to be a serviceable stopgap while we wait for Ghost Game's current-gen follow-up to Nees For Speed Rivals. Sadly, this was completely predictable.
